Background: The Administration is seeking position authority for a Sustainability Project Manager to provide leadership in support of the District’s plans to further advance sustainability efforts aimed at improving the environment and creating more green spaces on Milwaukee Public Schools playgrounds. This position will work with the City of Milwaukee, the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District, and various other partners who are actively engaged in sustainability initiatives in support of the City of Milwaukee’s Green Infrastructure Plan.

This position is externally funded through a grant from the Fund for Lake Michigan and has gone through the job classification process to identify position level and salary range. The position level was determined to be 10A, and the corresponding salary range is $72,022.00 to $104,445.00.
Fiscal Impact Statement: Funding to support the position is provided through a grant from the Fund for Lake Michigan (grant budget FCM-0-S-5G9-FM ESCA3610). The term of the grant is July 1, 2018, through December 31, 2019. Upon completion of the grant, the position may be eliminated or repurposed based on program continuation, subject to Board approval.
Implementation and Assessment Plan Upon Board approval, the Administration will move forward with the hiring process for this position.
Recommendation: Your Committee recommends that the Board approve the request for position authority for the Sustainability Project Manager, with an effective date of October 25, 2018.
