Background: At its meeting on October 26, 2017, the Board referred Resolution 1718R-009 by Directors Bonds and Harris regarding creation of a Success Center for students in grades 4-12 who are at risk to the Committee on Student Achievement and School Innovation.

The Administration is in agreement with the resolution, and will develop a request for proposals (RFP) for a charter or partnership school, in order to meet the specifications of the resolution.

The Administration is suggesting adoption of the resolution with minor adjustments. To allow maximum flexibility in the development of the program design, the following components have been updated: the number of days for preventative programming and alternatives to suspension and the location.

Upon Board approval of the resolution, the Administration will proceed with active solicitation for a charter or partnership school that meets the needs of students as identified in the resolution.
Fiscal Impact Statement: This item does not authorize expenditures.
Implementation and Assessment Plan Upon approval by the Board, the Administration will issue a request for proposals (RFP) for a charter or partnership school provider to work with the district for a Success Center.
Recommendation: The Administration recommends adopting Resolution 1718R-009 by Directors Bonds and Harris to create a Success Center for at-risk students in grades 4-12 as amended in the attachment.
