Background: At its May 25, 2017 meeting, the Milwaukee Board of School Directors referred Resolution 1718R-001 by Directors Bonds and Sain to the Committee on Accountability, Finance and Personnel.

Since that time, the Chief of School Administration has communicated with the school leadership regarding the potential name change. The school community is in support of pursuing a name change, and the Regional Superintendent has been working with the school community on moving forward with the process in alignment with the resolution.
Fiscal Impact Statement: This item does not authorize expenditures. Any costs associated with changing the name of the school on the building will be absorbed in the FY17 budget.
Implementation and Assessment Plan Upon approval of the Board, the Administration will continue working with the school community to complete the necessary steps to identify a new name for the school. Once this has been determined, the proposed name will be brought to the Board for consideration and approval.
Recommendation: Your Committee recommends that the Board adopt Resolution 1718R-001 by Directors Bonds and Sain.
