Background: As part of the original freeway expansion project adjacent to Lancaster School, a portion of the alley in the block bounded by West Fond du Lac Avenue, West Lancaster Avenue, North 68th Street, and North 69th Street was formally vacated as a public right-of-way. The administration is requesting approval of the attached Lis Pendens and Petition to Vacate which authorizes the formal request to the Common Council to have the remaining portion of the alley vacated as a public –right-of-way to allow the District to make better use of the site as part of the planned parking lot reconstruction project at Lancaster School.
Fiscal Impact Statement: There are no expenditures associated with this item.
Implementation and Assessment Plan Upon Board approval, the Administration will work with the City of Milwaukee to vacate the alley from the State of Wisconsin.
Recommendation: Your Committee recommends that the Board approve the Request to Approve a Lis Pendens and Petition to Vacate the northwest-southeast alley directly adjacent to the Lancaster School in order to make better use of the site as part of the planned parking lot reconstruction project.
