Background:
In August 2017, the Milwaukee Board of School Directors adopted Resolution 1617R-006 to develop an equity policy. As follow up to the Board's action, Administrative Policy 1.06, Equity in MPS, and Equity Procedure 1.06, Efforts to Achieve Equity, were adopted by the Board on August 31, 2017. The Administration has worked with numerous stakeholders to provide a guidebook to accompany Administrative Policy 1.06, Equity in MPS, and Administrative Procedure 1.06, Efforts to Achieve Equity.

A draft of the Equity Guidebook was presented to the Board on August 29, 2019. The Administration was asked to make revisions to address the feedback shared in August.

A revised MPS Equity Guidebook is attached. The document is aligned to Administrative Policy 1.01, Vision, Mission, Core Beliefs, and Goals, Administrative Policy 1.06, Equity in MPS, Administrative Procedure 1.06, Efforts to Achieve Equity, and the Five Priorities for Success. In a manner that reflected due diligence during the national health emergency, the Administration sought input from thought-partners, e.g., students, families, educators, community partners, and MPS offices and departments. The revised MPS Equity Guidebook is meant to be flexible and adaptable to all district stakeholders’ current and future, equity, access, and inclusion needs.
